Minutes of the Meeting

Fitzwilliam Town Library Board of Trustees

11 January 2021

Present:  Robin Marra, Dick Goettle, Trish Toomey, Pam Troccia, Brian Doerpholz and Kate Thomas, Library Director.

Robin Marra called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM in the Quick Meeting Room of the Library, with Robin Marra, Pam Troccia and Kate Thomas in attendance at the library and Dick Goettle, Brian Doerpholz and Trish Toomey present via Zoom.

Robin Marra had the opportunity to talk to Kate about how the staff felt about closing the Library and going back to curbside given the rise in positivity and infection rates in Fitzwilliam.  At the current time, the staff of the Library is fine with keeping the Library open.  Kate mentioned that patron attendance is down recently and feels that may be due to people wanting to stay safe.  Curbside is still an option and patrons are taking advantage of that option also.  A motion was made by Dick Goettle that the Chair of the Trustees, Robin Marra, and the Director monitor the positivity/infection rate in the community and make the decision to close and go completely curbside once the staff is uncomfortable.  That motion was seconded by Brian Doerpholz and approved by Trustees Robin Marra, Dick Goettle, Pam Troccia and Alternate Trustee, Brian Doerpholz.  Trustee Trish Toomey was opposed.

A motion by Pam Troccia to adjourn from a public session to a non-public session was made at 6:12 p.m.  Motion was seconded by Dick Goettle and approved by all Trustees.  At 6:21 p.m., a motion was made by Dick Goettle, and seconded by Robin Marra, to move out of non-public session and return to the public session.  This motion was approved by all Trustees.

Pam Troccia put forth a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:23 p.m.  Trish Toomey seconded, and all Trustees approved the motion to adjourn.
