The trustees approved the February 6, 2012, minutes as amended.
Librarian’s Report –
There has been an uptick in computer use. One probable reason is the new, faster computers. Susan expressed her gratitude to Dave Kenney for the work he did setting them up, and the trustees added in their thanks. Another reason for the uptick is the success of Technology Night.
The past month saw a 30% increase in circulation compared to last year. Downloadable books contributed significantly to the increase. Susan commented that publishers are not happy about downloadable books and some have added restrictions.
Building Report –
Richard is working on converting the fluorescent fixtures (about 20) so that all will take four-foot bulbs of a brighter and more energy efficient design. An estimate is forthcoming.
Treasurer’s Report –
Richard asked what should be done with the certificate of deposit that is coming due this month. A motion was made that the $2,517.37 not be renewed and that it be returned to the Book Fund Savings Account at the Savings Bank of Walpole. The motion was seconded and passed.
Massin Fund –
The trustees took up the topic of what to do with the money contributed to the Massin Fund.
Miscellaneous –
Susan asked permission to donate one Town History from the Library’s collection to the town’s 250th celebration, where it will be auctioned. The trustees assented with the provision that it be a volume that is not in mint condition.
The trustees signed the manifest and the meeting was adjourned at 6:58 PM.
The next meeting will be Monday, April 2nd at 6 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
J. Nicholas Noyes
