At 5:50 pm Nick called the meeting to order. We signed the Manifest and approved the minutes of the August 4, 2014 meeting.

Nancy reported on the work of Long Range Planning. “Tomorrow by Design” has been reviewed and they are trying to figure out the best way to survey non library patrons for the next step of the process.

We continued to discuss and review two policies – Gift Policy and an Art Show Policy. Neither was ready for approval this month. We approved a Social Media policy with the correction of several typos.

Kate had checked to see if the Town had any formal policy about dogs or other domestic animals in town buildings. There is none. Well behaved dogs on leashes are permitted in the Library if the Director and other library patrons are comfortable with their presence.

The roof discussion will be continued as estimates are still coming in.

Nick will attend the Selectmen’s October 6, 2014 meeting to discuss what information the auditors need from the Library in the future. The treasurer and investment treasurer (Richard and Barbara) will provide quarterly updates to the Trustees and these figures will be available to the auditors for their annual review.

Kate reported that the Summer reading programs were successful and that preparation for the book sale is going well. The first staff meeting went very well. Jeremy is planning on offering a special program for teens once a month. Jeremy is available to work Saturday mornings if needed.

Kate is excited about the next program – NH Bugs – on September 10th.
